THREE MONTH FEATURE FILM PRODUCTION DESIGN 2025
Programme

The Three Month Feature Film Production Design Program is uniquely designed for individuals who wish to embark on a highly vocational and industry focused training course as contemporary filmmakers specializing in Production Design. This programme is designed for individuals with passion, creativity, determination and a serious commitment to creating a lasting career in Production Design. It provides you with a very unique opportunity to gain first hand experience of what it takes to make a feature film, from the perspective of the Production Design department.

APPLY NOW

For three months, you will form part of a small, tight-knit production team with a single shared goal: to craft a poignant and moving feature film. Industry experts will be working with you, encouraging and guiding a small group of passionate and specially selected students to create a film to be taken to festivals. You will be part of an international Production Design Department, who will be taken on a journey through all the aspects of the Production Design in Preproduction and Production- from creative concepts to Art Direction, to breakdowns and on-set execution.

“Production design is associated with big-budget projects and low-budget filmmakers think they will not have access or that they won’t need it, alas they are who need it the most.”Mirko Von Berner
Intensive and Practical

This programme is totally unique and provides you with the opportunity to learn all stages of Production Design through doing. Students will continuously undertake practical, creative and technical workshops in groups and will then be asked to put their knowledge into practice, on a real-life feature film project. The course is fast, intensive and absorbing. Our key goal is to give students the tools, mindset and support they need to make it in the real world. By the end of the program, students will have evolved professionally, worked with industry leaders, have a feature film experience, a career plan, a showreel and a feature film to be taken to film festivals. This is a distinctive feature of this afilm programme.

“Joseph Joubert said teaching was learning twice over. And here I am, an eternal apprentice with the opportunity to participate next to the new generations of creators with the creative curiosity that springs from creating a new project and being able to collaborate with my 30 years experience in the industry, and at the same time, share my enthusiasm which comes from seeing what is and was not before, which is profoundly gratifying. That’s why I am at afilm.”Mirko Von Berner
Graduate Prospects

Graduates will have all the skills required for accessing and working within the film industry in the Production Design department. As an afilm graduate, you will be in a unique position to have worked on a real feature film. You will also be coached with commercial and networking skills to go out and find work, in the Production Design department.
