The workshop is fast, intensive and absorbing. Our key goal is to give students the tools, the mindset and the support they need to work in the real world. By the end of the workshop, students will have evolved professionally, worked with a professional Talent Agent, and have professional acting experience.

Belgian theatrical talent agent and filmmaker, Giovanni Smets leads this 2 days Casting workshop. The professional relationship between an actor and a talent agent is crucial in an actor’s career. Yet both professions entail very different tasks. In this course you’ll discover exactly how to find an agent and secure a role along the way. You will learn the do’s and don’ts of castings, how to present yourself and branding your image, how to obtain representation, the way to attack monologues and casting sides and more importantly, how to be prepared when being invited for an interview or meeting through casting simulations.

About the instructor?

Giovanni was the founder of Actors One Agency, an international talent agency located in Sitges, Barcelona, representing a diverse range of professional actors from all over the world. Through his work as a talent agent, Giovanni secured many actors with roles in (inter)national movies such as “Hunter’s Prayer” by Jonathan Mostow, “Paradise Hills” by Alice Waddington and “Gernika” by Koldo Serra. Giovanni has a unique knowledge of acting and directing the actor from his training in filmmaking at afilm International, having written and directed various films, including the much praised fashion motion editorial “Inside the Dreammachine” for Belgian designer Anneleen Bertels.

What will you be doing?
  • You will breakdown casting sides and monologues and prepare for casting sessions
  • You will be directed in casting simulations, which will be shot for further analysis
