What’s on offer

The workshop is fast, intensive and absorbing. Our key goal is to give students the tools, the mindset and the support they need to work in the real world. By the end of the workshop, students will have evolved professionally, worked with an industry leader, have professional costume design experience and footage for their portfolio/ showreel.

Venezuelan Costume Designer Fernanda Carrillo Arredondo leads this 5 day workshop on the Art and Craft of Costume Design. The workshop is designed for fashion students, designers and cinema professionals who wish to gain insight into the world of Costume Design, specifically for film.

About the instructor?

With a degree in Fashion Design from Bau, Centro Universitario de Diseño de Barcelona, Fernanda has joined the film industry in Barcelona after first exploring a career in Fashion. She’s collaborated on several afilm projects, including the feature film projects The Afterglow (Sitges International Film Festival 2014), The Forsaken (Sitges International Film Festival 2015) and the upcoming, Enclosed.

What will you get out of it?
  • You will learn to conceptualize and reenforcing each character’s personality though Costume Design, for cinema, advertising and television.
  • You will learn a brief introduction to the History of Fashion.
  • You will learn how to analyze each character, prepare a breakdown
  • You will organize communication/ collaboration with the project’s director and production designer.
  • During the workshop, you will apply the theory learned in the shooting of a Fashion Motion Editorial (a short film exploring a fashion brand), where students will be asked to prepare characters with their costume codes, moodboards and communication files for other departments.

What will you be doing?
  • Visit to the Fashion Museum in Barcelona, History of Fashion tour
  • Screening and Analysing an exemplary film through Costume Design
  • Fashion Motion Editorial FME project presentation
  • 2 days preparation for the FME project, including development of characters/ personalities, moodboards and communication files
  • Exploring the tools of the trade
  • Shoot FME project
