ART DIRECTION WORKSHOP with MIRKO VON BERNER
afilm presents Mirko Von Berners 3 Day Introduction to Production Design / Art Direction Workshop, designed for Directors, Cinematographers, Artists and all the Film Industry crew and personnel wanting to learn, to consolidate experiences or to improve.
MIRKO VON BERNER (Production Designer), a sculptor as well as a painter, after having studied Visual Arts at the ENAP (Nation School of Plastic Arts), has acquired more than 25 years of creative experience in the audio visual industry, having worked in films and advertising in Mexico, USA and Spain. He has worked with directors, in the following productions, such as Julian Schnabel (Before Night Falls), James L. Brooks (Spanglish), Martin Campbell (The Mask of Zorro), Arturo Ripstein (Principio y Fin), amongst many others.
Topics to be covered include Design for the screen with a focus on the film and advertisement industry.
Students will learn how to create an Art Breakdown including Set, Construction, Decoration, Props, Greens and Vehicles breakdowns. They will create a set model in accurate scale. The roles of the personnel in the Art Department will be examined. Additional topics include Time management and scheduling of resources, Budget and accounting for an Art Department, Research, documentation and investigation and finally, Brainstorming and Mindmapping.
