ACTOR’S LAB
ACTOR’S LAB
An intense, three week English language acting workshop, designed for, but not limited to, actors considering joining the Actor’s Studio. Featuring an introduction to technical film language and the creation of complete scenes (theoretical & practical). Conceived for small groups, permitting a dynamic, efficient working pace.
The sessions are geared towards the core creation of layering a character for the actor. Monologues and duologues are rehearsed, refined, and recorded. Performance and dialogue work is wide and varied, where the subtlety of subtext, gesture and speech are focused upon in isolation and as a whole. Explore what really works in the language of film and how to use it to your full potential in front of the camera.
IMPROVISATION
Improvisation sessions based on San Francisco's world famous Keith Johnstones Improv techniques compliment the preparation for casting classes and role preparation alike. The emphasis here is to develop the fluidity and suppleness of the actor’s response, delivery, richness and observational techniques. Improv sharpens your performance, to create and sustain believability where anything is possible.
Upon completion of the workshop, you will receive a dvd copy of your scene work.
ROB BATEMAN
The workshop is led by Rob Bateman. A graduate of The London Academy of Performing Arts, Rob has worked at RADA, The Actors Centre and the National Youth Theatre and has directed various productions on the fringe circuit in London and Edinburgh. His theatre experience includes The Shaftesbury Theatre in London's west end, Covent Garden Theatre, and The Royal Opera House.
