THE CASTING WORKSHOP

As actors, sight readings in casting sessions are often over before we know it. These casting sessions alone require their own specific methodology, application, practice and overall presentation for the actor.
Sight reading sessions will expose actors to a wide variety of British and American scripts where the actor is producing in the immediate context of casting scenarios. Thinking on your feet, maximizing impact and giving the casting director what they want can allude the actor’s given timeframe, unknown scripts and pressure situations. Through rigorous, constant practice, the actor is guided through making brave and truthful decisions with interpretations of character and dialogue - making the script 'disappear' in those vital casting sessions. Practice and focus on 'holding your own' and exploiting your magnetism can increase your chances ten fold, as can watching playbacks of yourself and your peers.
IMPROVISATION
Improvisation sessions based on San Francisco's world famous Keith Johnstones Impro techniques compliment the preparation for casting classes and role preparation alike. The emphasis here is to develop the fluidity and suppleness of the actor’s response, delivery, richness and observational techniques. Impro sharpens the actor, to create and sustain believability where anything is possible.
Workshop casting sessions will be recorded for analysis. Upon completion of the Workshop, actors will receive a dvd copy of their work, for use in their showreels.
